Decisions, decisions…how do you make them?
Today I’d like to give you a helpful self-care tool, one that you can use every day, all day long, wherever you need to. I want to teach you to use MRT or Muscle Response Testing to make the best choices—the perfect choices for you—in your day to day life.
Tomasa asked me to share something valuable in the holistic self-care realm and I couldn’t imagine anything approaching the value of MRT. You know how it is when you’re required in your daily life to come up with an immediate yes or no response and your consciousness just doesn’t answer the call? You need to have an opinion based on consciousness and it isn’t there? Guess what: it IS there, but you may not know how to access the answer! Your body always has a perfect, visceral response—positive or negative—to every question, circumstance or person. Yes, that statement is true.
Back in the 1950s, a chiropractor, Dr. George Goodheart discovered that we, as humans, grow weak in the face of what we perceive as a lie or a threat! We are walking lie detectors! Yes, we do “vibe it out” and our response is absolutely accurate and completely valid. Would you like to learn how to become reliable in ‘hearing” your body’s response and in reacting appropriately? Let me give you a lesson.
Take your left hand and make a circle with your index finger and thumb. Take the index finger of your right hand a stick it into the circle. Make a true statement. I usually say, “I am Dr. Jill Cohn.” As you say the true statement “challenge” the circle by attempting to “break out of it” with the right index finger: it should be impossible.
To test the “lie” I like to say, “My name is Godzilla!” Try that. If you can’t break through the circle keep practicing till you can. That’s about the whole course! It’s really that simple. Just keep practicing until you become reliable to reflect the truth in the moment.
Try using MRT in every situation in your life where you need to make a decision. Yes, that’s right: all day long! Start first thing when you get up: should I meditate now? Do the set-up statement (my name is ___________, i.e. my name is Godzilla), then ask your question. The more you practice the more reliable you will become.
When I tried doing this in chiropractic college eighteen years ago, I was completely unreliable. I wasn’t particularly motivated to get good at it so I never did.
Four years ago I needed to get good at MRT as I was being paid to eliminate my patients’ allergies permanently and I had to become reliable very quickly so I practiced and did. MRT is a great, reliable tool to use daily to make decisions that are in your best interest. I hope you enjoy and can see why this tool might be useful to you. Have fun with it!
